Until I have time to elaborate, you can reach me at mario.cormier@mybutler.com.

Until now I have been working mostly on the serial communications in javax.comm . I have implementations of javax.comm drivers for Win32 in JNI, RNI, and J/Direct so I'd like to participate in implementing the same in JOS. However I have no idea yet as to how to write device drivers for RTEMS, or how serial ports might even be accessible in RTEMS. Anybody with insight into this is welcome to get in touch with me.

Have a look at the KernelInterface, if you write your drivers to this idea then your drivers will be portable across different kernels on the same hardware.
