I have interests in component software, clean OOD, Java Beans and suchlike. I have been developing commercial graphical and analytical application in the EDA/CAE/CAD world for about 10 years, initially in C.
My interest for JOS is in the eventual promise of Java for a universal environment for applications, without tying apps to particular hardware or operating systems.
I am now considering what can be done to solve the legacy problems of established products, for example MS Office applications, and considering both low-level Java readers of Office data, and COM & Beans -based bridges to provide access to this data for Java applications.
