There seems to be a problem with the current distribution of source & binary data.

Just about all downloads are TARed or GZiped... thats fine, but doesn't take into account people who are running something other than a UNIX system...

I am using Windows system, and its only because I do a lot of work in Solaris and Linux, that i have a windows TAR application. However, a lot people wont. So, I propose that all downloads be JARed, to promote the cross-platform concept behind this whole thing. Anyone running Java should be able to extract a jar file.

(Note: there may be a problem unjaring a file jared with 1.2 for users of 1.1, 1.0.

Commnets?

The current release of WinZip is able to extract tarGziped files. But I agree, the jar format should be our first choice!
