My Status
I am a Director of Systems Development at a software/recruiting firm in Atlanta, GA.

My Purpose
As a former developer from Apple Computer, Inc., I have first hand experience at watching an opportunity Squandered. I want to see JOS succeed because an alternative to windows is needed to drive innovation, keep Microsoft honest and usher in the next technology paradime shift.

My Prediction
No company has dominated the technology industry more than ten years. Each time, a new paradime has "changed the world". Microsoft  is nearing the end of their epoch. It is the natural progression of technology. And window of opportunity is open. We must take advantage of this opportunity with a sense of urgency and professionalism.

My Experience
C, C++ , Java, Visual Basic, Object Pascal

My Expectations
I think Linux has already proving to be a solid alternative to Windows NT. The Current press surrounding Linux is testament to this.

Linux, however, cannot compete with Windows 95. Let's face it, it is a geek operating systems. My wife wouldn't have a clue how to configure it or use it. It has no mass market appeal. In order for us to "Cross the Chasm" we must make an operating system that is for end-users.

JOS needs the free operating system for the "rest-of-us".(no pun intended). On the surface it should be easy to use and under the hood it should be robust enough for us geeks.

My Contribution
I want to help bring the level of documentation and standardization to the JOS project. To be user friendly we have to have world class documentation. And to attract developers we need to have basic standards in place. I will be presenting that to the JOS Team. Remember! We are competing with the Microsoft!

I also have extensive experience in creating and using scripting languages. I want to contribute standards for an open scripting architecture so that any programming language can be plugged into JOS. This interface/factory architecture will allow scripting in JOS or in applications.

CORBA is also a passion of mine. We need to embrace all open standards that are widely supported and allow us to leverage and connect to other operating systems. CORBA can be the glue. I will help bring CORBA to JOS.

My Thanks
One of the reasons I went to Apple was because I had a burning desire to make a difference and "change the world", Now, I seem to have found it again.
