I would think by now you must have received thousands of similar emails like the below offering services to the JOS project, but if I can help in any
way I would love to hear from you. I have been programming in Java for the last year, and recently finished my MSc thesis by building a serializable networking protocol, for a new form of web server/browser.
I would be very interested in getting involved in maybe the networking but also the gui system. I work now as a systems admin and this obviously involves the support of users. I think this gives me a good knowledge in what is really wanted by users to allow them to become productive.
If my qualifications are adequate, maybe you could put me in touch with those others who are involved in the gui front-end to discuss methodologies and perhaps start cutting some code. But of course I appreciate we may have to wait a while whilst the low-level guys get going on the new base classes.
All in all it sounds a very interesting project, and it would be great to build software that is free for everyone. I am not entirely against microsoft but I would like to see a nicer world in which to undertake the business of IT.
Cheers for listening.
Kieran.
