I would like to contribute to the JOS project. Here is some information
about
my background. (Please be sure to visit my Home Page for more details.
The URL is http://www.ag.auburn.edu/~richardf ).
- Graduated in 1994 from Auburn University in Computer Science.
- Have worked for about seven years in a Network Administration capacity. (Some of it was part-time.)
- I know Unix (Sun Solaris, Linux) and MS Windows 95/NT.
- I know C, and some C++ (However, I don't work in these very much anymore.)
- I'm learning Java currently.
- Use Perl 5.x almost on a daily basis, mainly for Administrative scripts, and CGI programs.
- Competant Web site designer. (HTML, CGI, forms, etc.)
- Know how to use Mysql, and access it from CGI scripts.
I feel that I could be of assistance to the project as a whole in these
areas:
- I am good at testing software, and making it work with other systems (integration) as well as providing feedback to developers.
- I enjoy writing, and may be able to help write the end user documentation. I imagine the APIs are going to be generated by JavaDoc, but higher level documentation will still be needed.
- I work closely with end users, and know what people are looking for in a product. Hence, I could be of help in the requirements area of the user interface.
- I have also been around the block enough to know good and bad ideas when I see them! :)
I don't know how much time I will have to spend on it, but I strongly believe in the goals of the JOS project, and would like to be a part of it.
Thanks.
