I have been working as a professional Java developer for a year and a half and have been a Java enthusiast since the first alpha release of the JDK. I am a Linux user but have long felt the need to have a free OS that my kid, my grandmother and my wife can use. Linux is not that. From an ease-of-use standpoint it is sorely lacking and no new GUI shell for X is going to fix that. I had been seriously considering starting a project exactly like JOS but decided to look around and see if anybody else was doing it first. Turns out you are, so I want to help.
My biggest areas of expertise are in ease-of-use, UI design and databases. I am a good Java coder, a barely functional C/C++ coder and also a freelance writer with credits writing for QUE in the following books:
I figure I could be of most use initially with UI and documentation.
More about me:
I also have a WebObjects-like 100% Pure Java 1.1 web-application development environment under construction that I will be setting up a web site for shortly (once I have alpha level code) to start my own bazaar-style cooperative development process. It is designed to use PHP for back-end processing.
Hmmm...I also run a small record label called Nuclear Gopher Productions, I have a 3-year old boy named Syd and I like pizza.
