Servlets can be used with Apache in a number of ways. Perhaps the simplest is to include the Servlet libraries in a compilation of Apache. Check out Java-Apache or the JServ in Apache website for more information on integrating Java with Apache.

I have successfully compiled Apache to work with Servlets before and if I could get access to our server I could do it again (I think...).

Please contact me to dicuss this in greater detail.

I currently have set up several Apache/JRun servers where I work on a couple of SPARC Solaris boxes, and am very impressed with JRun (LiveSoftware). They are both modified to run with JDK 1.2 but require a little tweaking to get the JSP working... JRun has a free version that does not support JSP, but if we ask, LiveSoftware may be into giving us a copy of JRun Pro for the JOS site. (or even for working it into JOS but thats another discussion).

I'd be happy to help out with that, if thats the direction we swing... Also, I'm about to redo my machine at www.jmonkey.com with Solaris and JRun, and would be happy to provide access to it for JOS members... however, I would require it be limited to active JOS members, so it wouldn't do for a general JOS site.
