Please add your ideas for units, terrain types and blob types. I am sorry I have no information about these here, I will when I have time. For now, read the jos-games mailing list.

Blob Types

The Blob class is a way to store information about a large area of a map. The area affected by the blob is defined within the class itself, and may change at any time. One way to picture this is as a n-sided polygonal figure. Blobs of the same type may overlap, causing an added effect - all intersections of blob regions have a linearly compounded effect.

AtmosphericPreassureBlob
Measures atmosphereic pressure
AtmosphericMoistureBlob
Measures atmospheric moisture
AtmosphericTemperatureBlob
Measures atmospheric temperature
WindFieldBlob
Measures the field velocity of the wind of an atmospheric region
LandMoistureBlob
Measures the moisture in the land region
LandTemperatureBlob
Measures the temperature in the land region
LandNitrogenContentBlob
Measures the amount of nitrogen in the land - directly affects plantlife growth
BackgroundWildlifeBlob
Inherits both from genetic life and from blob interfaces. This is a type of "multitude" specie which would be too memory/CPU intensive to account for each individual, such as grass. Each such blobbed lifeform should be: 1. not primarily concerned with movement (such as plantlife), and 2. of a single specie (each blobbed specie should be a different object for the area interaction).

Unit Types

WARNING! Do not start putting a few thousand unit types you happen to see in other games like Warcraft or Starcraft! This list should be minimized to contain things like animal species, human species, vehicle types, etc.

Units should be limited to genetically developing creatures (at this point I doubt that they need to worry about vehicles - if they evolve to the point where they have excess brain power, then they can figure out themselves how to create vehicles in the given environment :)

Also, terrains should limit themselves to just the soil conditions (this includes large/small/any rocks, mud, etc.). The elevation is a map feature.

I think that the terrain type mud should be removed. It should be either 1: sandy + moisture blob = swamp or 2: earth + moisture blob = mud. What do you think people?
