JOS Public License Discussion
This page is for discussing the proposed JOS Public License on the JOSPL page. Please sign your comments.
- Where does this license come from? Does it have anything to do with the investigations that MarcusPeter (I think) has been doing to arrive at a configurable license for JOS?
- This license is an adaptation of the Mozilla Public License which I got from the Mozilla website (http://www.mozilla.org). I fiddled independantly of MarkusPeter's work after I read some stuff in the CodingConventions section. -- IainLowe (03-02-99)
- Is this license L/GPL compatible, such that we can use L/GPL'd sources in a JOSPL'd work? The other way around?
- The L/GPL is (I believe) the grand-daddy of the Netscape PL which is the parent of the Mozilla PL. According to the Mozilla PL, any new code which does not constitute a "Modification" is not governed by the License and could therefore (I assume) be covered by another license. (As a point to note I am not a legal expert of any sort so please take all of this with a grain of salt) -- IainLowe (03-02-99)

- I don't know if it's just my browser (Netscape 4.5, Windows), but i find the font of the licence almost impossible to read. In fact, it's much nicer reading it with "view source". You might get more feedback on the licence if it were more legible. I don't know if this could be achieved by just changing the "face" attribute or whether you'd have to chuck the "pre" tags and reformat the whole thing.
