In honor of JavaOne, where companies from around the world will gather to show their software and vaporware to the rest of the world, let us open up our source for our various projects to the rest of the JOS members during ShowYourWaresWeek!

We have many projects going on for which most JOS members have never seen a lick of code. One of the advantages of the CathedralAndBazaar and OpenSource is that authors get to take advantage of bug reports and fixes, enhancements, suggestions, flames, and collaboration to make their code better. This is a concept which we as a group support, yet we have seen very little of authors actually releasing their source.

So, during the week of the JavaOne conference in San Franscisco, let us show our wares and prove that we can create more than just discussion and vaporware.

Important pages to keep an eye on during ShowYourWaresWeek

Alright, I'm showing my warez(total elite, man). The source for the XML Application Framework (XAS) is at http://www.columbia.edu/~bkn3 . The portion in that directory is called the Object Builder, and it is not yet finished. In brief, it transforms an XML file into a set of coresponding Java objects; the framework would allow specific XML applications to easily override the defaults and proovide their own Java classes for XML tags or for groups of XML tags. I would give a longer explanation, but I have to run.

Who was it who promised JosExplorer would be released here?

-- OmegaBaphomet (1998.03.26)

It was me! The JOS Explorer is part of the FS release (FilesystemCode). I should have mentioned it explicitly. Who was it who asked? ;-) --StefanReich, 27-Mar-98
