The Wiki is going through some rather cool upgrades now that Markus has dedicated time to it. First on the list was better security, which we all have been asking for.... The policy ("every one can edit anything") has not changed... only the implementation.
To get write access on the Wiki during this intermediate stage, send e-mail to MarkusPeter (warpi@spin.de) or ClarkEvans (clark.evans@manhattanproject.com) with your WikiName and the password that you would like. Everyone is encouraged to collaborate, so if you've been reading the JOS pages, and are ready to pitch in, go ahead and sign up now!
Over the next few weeks, the Wiki will include enhancements for better user management, including an automated member list and ability to see past revisions of a particular page. Soon after that we hope to have image/diagram uploads and possibly a source code control system shortly thereafter.
As we get more and more traffic keeping the Wiki "open" becomes more and more dangerous since casual surfers could severely cause damage to our collaborative effort. Every time that we have pages being deleted or people author under other peoples names we get a bit worried, and most people agree that it was better to enact better security before any severe problems occurred.
Hopefully this additional minimum security will not deter your participation. If you have any questions or concerns you may direct them to the list or to me directly.
Thank you for your understanding,
Clark Evans
