hi!

I usually prefer the nick "therapy", but WikiCapsNotation forces me the use this elite-looking TherP as my nick. It doesn't have anything to do with this elite-nonsence..

I'm the sysadmin of a couple of linux-server at the technical university of Vienna, Austria, and i'm not really secrificed with Linux at all. So I wanna help developing JOS :) - I have some ideas releated to FS-design (please throw this user/group/others permission check away) and a network transparent GUI (no X please). Hopefully I could finish some useful drafts on this topics..

btw: I've seen JOS-developers distributing their source on geocities or member.tripod.com. I don't like these advertisment sites, so please feel free to contact me, if you need webspace or anything else.

therapy (i guess it was 1/3/98)

Hey TherP, welcome to JOS! I don't know if you were ever on the old hacker bulletin board systems, but they would always spell 'elite' as 3l1t3, replacing letters with numbers and stuff. What does this have to do with JOS? Absolutely nothing. On another note, StefanReich is working on low-level file system interfaces and code, while I am working on building a metadata infrastructure based on XML. We hope to combine these together to experiment with new types of file systems, such as file systems that are structured like the Web. MasonZhwiti is also working on a FileFinder. We welcome your skills and knowledge, especially your ideas and input on file systems and user interfaces.

Thanks,

BradNeuberg, 3/12/98

Woh! Amazing that I was recognized as a newmember of the JOS project so quickly :) - (yes, i was on this 31337-styled bulletin board system - really ugly 8bit ascii codes.. pfu that's a long time ago :) i was 13/14)

I'm currently reading/doing some case studies on existing operating system.. amoeba seems very intressting especially for JOS as a distributed operating system, because the processor pool don't have to be built of the same architectures. well i think i'll put my opinion on the right page (not my personal page) when i've "hacked" through the bunch of papers/books and source code. any papers about balanced trees available on the net :) ?
